We are pleased to present you with the story of our graduate Kristoff.

"Work & Travel is an international student exchange program to work and travel in the U.S. during the summer break.

All that is required is to be a full-time student and have at least an intermediate level of English.

In September 2019 I decided to take part in this program together with my friends Kevin and Anna. I will tell you how we flew to the U.S., who we worked for, how much we earned, and what else we did there.

What is the "Work & Travel" program?

The essence of the program is the opportunity for students from all over the world to visit the United States during the summer break from May to September. During that time students learn about American culture, get work experience, improve their English, and travel to different states. You can also earn some money.

It is clear from the name that the program consists of two parts: work and travel. You can work from May 20 to September 29 and only in the service sector: amusement parks, restaurants, stores, national parks and hotels.

After April 31 the student is eligible for the second part of the program - travel, which lasts a maximum of 30 calendar days. The route and duration can be chosen independently, but it is no longer possible to work during this time.

This and many other exchange programs in the world are organized by special travel agencies. There are many of them, and they are different in each country. The agency is responsible for all the arrangements, so it is very important to take the choice very seriously. Read the reviews of participants in thematic forums or visit one of the presentations of the program, which agencies periodically hold.

The algorithm for participating in the program is as follows:

You come to the agency.

Then, you pass the oral test of English.

Get an agreement, it can be quietly studied before signing. Collect the necessary documents.

If you do not want to look for a job in the U.S. on your own, you can pay for this service too. The agency will offer you several employers, and you choose.

Have an interview with the employer via Skype.

You sign the employment contract.
